Getting Started with Kaname

Set up your Kaname account, connect your first mailbox, and start managing your inbox in minutes.

Kaname is a unified inbox command center for founders — it brings your email accounts together, sorts threads automatically by revenue signal, and keeps follow-ups in context so you never miss a deal.

This guide walks you through creating your account, connecting your first mailbox, and completing initial setup.

Step 1: Create your account

Go to kaname.io/register and sign up with your email address. Kaname uses Firebase Authentication — your password is never stored directly by Kaname.

Once registered, you land directly in the app.

Step 2: Connect your first mailbox

Kaname requires at least one connected mailbox before you can use the inbox. Go to Settings → Mailboxes and click Add mailbox.

Choose IMAP / SMTP and enter your server settings. Works with Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, Zoho, Fastmail, and any IMAP-compatible account.

Gmail users: Use imap.gmail.com with a Google App Password (required when 2-Step Verification is enabled). See the Gmail connection guide for step-by-step instructions.

After saving, Kaname verifies the connection and begins syncing your threads. The mailbox appears in your sidebar within 1–3 minutes.

Note: Each connected account counts as one mailbox toward your plan limit. You can add additional mailboxes anytime from Settings → Mailboxes.

Step 3: Complete the onboarding checklist

After connecting your first mailbox, the onboarding screen presents a checklist:

  • Connect a mailbox
  • Set your display name and profile
  • Explore the unified inbox
  • Add your first product (optional — useful if you use Kaname's CRM features)

You do not need to complete every item before using Kaname, but finishing the checklist ensures the most important settings are in place.

Step 4: Explore the app

Once onboarding is complete you land in the Inbox — your unified thread view. Threads from all connected mailboxes appear here, sorted by Kaname's AI routing.

Key sections of the app:

SectionWhat it does
InboxUnified view of all threads across connected mailboxes
CRM → LeadsAI-captured leads and hot prospects from your inbox
CRM → ProductsProducts and deals you are actively selling
