How to Add a Mailbox

Kaname supports connecting any email account via IMAP and SMTP. Choose the guide for your provider:

Gmail or Google Workspace

Connect a Gmail or Google Workspace account using IMAP and a Google App Password. Takes about five minutes.

Supports: Gmail (@gmail.com), Google Workspace (any @yourdomain.com routed through Google)

Gmail OAuth coming soon. One-click Google sign-in is in development. For now, use the IMAP guide below — it works reliably with both personal Gmail and Workspace accounts.

Outlook, iCloud, Zoho, Fastmail, or any other provider

For all other email accounts. Requires entering your IMAP and SMTP server settings (listed in the guide for common providers).

Supports: Outlook.com, Hotmail, Microsoft 365, iCloud Mail, Yahoo Mail, Zoho Mail, Fastmail, ProtonMail (via Bridge), and any custom domain email server.

Managing connected mailboxes

After connecting one or more mailboxes, you can manage them from Settings → Mailboxes:

• View sync status — see when each mailbox last synced and if there are any errors
• Set a display name — give each account a friendly label visible in the sidebar
• Reconnect — re-authorize a mailbox that lost its connection
• Disconnect — remove a mailbox from Kaname (your email account and data are unaffected)

How the unified inbox works

All connected mailboxes feed into a single unified inbox. Threads from every account appear together, sorted by Kaname's AI priority. You can filter by mailbox using the selector in the inbox toolbar.

When replying to a thread, Kaname automatically sends from the mailbox that received the original message. You can override this from the compose window if needed.

Plan limits

The number of mailboxes you can connect depends on your plan. Check your current limit at Settings → Billing. Upgrade to connect additional accounts.
